Sending Messages to Students using Mail Links

In several different parts of your Account Management area, you will see mail links which allow you to send email messages to students. For example, in the main Students section, there is a link for sending a message to all your students, and in the Classes section, each Class description includes a link for sending a message to all students in that class, as highlighted below:

Privacy and Mail Links

The hotpotatoes.net mail links work in the same way as email links on ordinary web pages - they do not send an email message themselves, but "pop up" your email program with a new message ready-addressed.

To preserve students' privacy, the email messages are not sent directly to the list of students, as this would make it possible for all the students to see each others' email addresses. Instead, any message sent by a teacher is addressed to that teacher's own email address, with the relevant student addresses included in the BCC ("Blind Carbon Copy") list. This means that although a copy of the message is sent to each student in the list, this list of addresses is hidden from the message recipients.
