Logging In
Before you can use hotpotatoes.net
to set up classes and student accounts, you have to
log in via the the hotpotatoes.net
home page. Your login account name and password
should have been supplied to you by email when you registered
your copy of Textoys, or any other authoring program
supported by hotpotatoes.net If you do not have a hotpotatoes.net
account name and password, but you have a registered
copy of Textoys v2, please contact
Creative Technology.
Be careful to type your account name
and password exactly as it was provided to you. Names
and passwords are both case-sensitive.
Login Problems and Cookies
The login system used by hotpotatoes.net
is designed to be secure - it never transmits your password
unencrypted across the internet, but uses the encrypted
"https" protocol to send your login information
to the server. For this system to work properly, your
browser must be configured to accept cookies.
Almost all browsers do accept cookies
in their default factory settings, but it is possible
to configure your browser with higher security options,
and thus prevent cookies being sent from one server
to another. If you configure your browser in this way,
the hotpotatoes.net secure login will not work.
There are two solutions to this problem
- you can either reconfigure your browser to accept
all cookies, or you can use the cookie-free
login page. We recommend that if possible, you reconfigure
your browser so that you can use the secure login route.
