Data Security and Backup

We make every effort to ensure that any material which you upload to the hotpotatoes.net server is backed up, and we will try to restore your data in the event of a system failure. However, please note that we cannot guarantee that this process will be perfect, as it is not possible to take continuous backups of a working system.

If we experience a system failure, we will restore all the data we possibly can, as soon as the system comes back online. We will then send you an email message informing you of the failure, so that you can check that all your materials have been restored correctly. If any exercises are missing, you will have to upload them again from your authoring program.

Storing Results

We particularly suggest that you do NOT rely on hotpotatoes.net as a permanent storage location for your students' results. As soon as a particular exercise has been completed by all your students, we recommend that you download the results and store them on your own system.
