Creating Classes for your Students
Some
types of hotpotatoes.net account allow you to divide
your students into Classes. If your account allows it,
you can create a class by clicking on the Classes option
in the main Adminsitration Area menu.
If your account does not allow you
to create Classes, and you would like to do so, please
contact Creative Technology
for details of how to upgrade your account.
Viewing Password
When you create a Class, you give
it a Name, and a Viewing Password. The Viewing Password
is used in conjunction with the "Password Protect"
option, which is offered when you upload an exercise
from an authoring program. If you choose the password-protect
an exercise, users have to enter the Viewing Password
for the class into which the exercise was uploaded,
before they can view it.
Note that Password Protection does
not apply to Students who access the exercise by logging
in using their Student ID and Password, nor is a Viewing
Password required if you access the exercise from the
Administration Area. The Viewing Password is only required
by people who access the exercise directly via its URL
(web address). The URL for an exercise is shown by your
authoring program as soon as you upload it. For more
information about viewing exercises via URLs, please
see the Public Viewing section on the Managing
& Viewing Exercises page.
