The Administration Area
The Administration Area allows Teachers
to set up classes and student accounts, and to view
and download the results of exercises done by students.
To reach the Administration Area,
you must go to the hotpotatoes.net
home page, and log in using your hotpotatoes.net
account name and password. These were supplied to you
by email when you registered your copy of the authoring
program. If you do not have a hotpotatoes.net account
name and password, but you have a registered copy of
Textoys, please contact Creative
Technology.
From the Administration area home
page, you can select from the following five areas:
- Classes - shows a list of the classes you
have set up, and indicates the number of students
and the titles of the exercises which are attached
to each class. You can also use this area to edit
or delete classes, or to add a new class - see Classes.
- Students - shows a list of all the students
you have registered, and which class(es) they are
in - see Creating Student Accounts.
A student can be registered as being in as many of
your classes as you wish. This page also provides
an Edit link for each student, which allows you to
change the information stored about them - this includes
their name, email address, and access password. You
can also see the student's exercise
results.
- Exercises - shows a list of the exercises
you have entered, and provides links to pages which
allow you to delete each exercise, or edit its title.
There is also a link to the results
stored for each exercise.
- Settings - allows you to change your account
settings, including your email address and password.
- Log Out - you should always log out when
you have finished working in the Administration area.
If you do not log out, anyone who sits at your computer
in the following few hours may be able to view and
use your Administration page without knowing your
password.
Note - the number of students and
classes you can create, and the number of exercises
which you are allowed to upload, depends on the program
you have, and on whether you purchase any extra hosting
facility. Please see the Additional
Hosting Services page for more information.
